A group of lawmakers has pressed Gideon Moi currently Baringo senator to form an alliance with Musalia Mudavadi ANC party leader in a bid for president come 2022. They feel that with the unity among them they will be able to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta as President.
The proposal made by the lawmakers was endorsed by Mr. Christopher Aseka, Mr. Godfrey Osotsi (Nominated), Mr. William Kamket (Tiaty), Mr. Silas Tiren (Moiben), Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua and former MPs Cyrus Jirongo and Julius Arunga.
The spoke during a fund drive in Kakamega town where Musalia Mudavadi and Gideon Moi were among the guests.
The lawmakers believe that the person who will succeed Uhuru Kenyatta will be born from the alliance by the two.
The lawmaker Mr. Osotsi urged the Baringo senator to reach out to Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and “include him in the team that will form the next government”. Mr. Osostsi also said that what Oparanya has done in Kakamega is commendable and cannot be ignored, with him in the team is a big boost.
“We need to elect leaders who respect the sovereignty of the people and have the interests of the masses at heart,” Mr. Tiren said.
Mr. Tiren also dismissed the ongoing campaigns as premature and instead they should consider development and the needs of the citizens.
Boni Khalwale former Kakamega Senator in another function cautioned Gideon Moi from equating himself to DP William Ruto. “Gideon Moi lacks the numbers and popularity to clinch the post, unlike Ruto who is well-equipped,” said Khalwale at Shitoli Catholic Church in Ikolomani.
