Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko in the year 1984 emerged the best student in his high school and among the top nationwide.

Keriako Tobiko who started his education in Mashuru Primary School and went ahead to join Athi River Secondary School for his O level. He then joined Kanyakine High School in Meru where he sat for the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE), an A-level exam done at the end of Form 6 during those days.
Keriako Tobiko performed well with As in all subjects and was awarded the Gandhi Smarak Award which earned him a scholarship at the University of Nairobi where he attained a Bachelors Degree in Law.
After completing his degree at the University of Nairobi he won a Barclays Cambridge Commonwealth scholarship where he went to study his Master’s Law Degree at the University of Cambridge.
1999 – 2002
He was appointed to the Njonjo Land Commission of Inquiry into the Land Law Systems in Kenya.
2000 – 2005
Served as a commissioner in the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission (CKRC).
He was appointed by the then Attorney General Githu Muigai as the National contact person between the International Criminal Court and Kenya.
He was appointed as the Director of Public Prosecutions and teamed up with the AG to represent the government in the proceedings before the ICC in relation to the 2007/08 Post Election Violence in the country.
Appointed by the president to join the cabinet as CS Ministry of environment
