Father John Njoroge was ordained to the priesthood on 30th December 1994 and was serving at St Peter the Rock Parish, Kinoo.

Kiambu County Police Commander Andiel Nyange stated that the priest was blocked by a gang of four people riding two motorcycles as he was cruising on a rough road.

The armed robbers demanded the bag that was in the car (probably carrying money) with one of them shooting through the windscreen of the Toyota Harrier.

They escaped the scene after the incident, with police launching a manhunt in the Kinoo/Regen area in a bid to apprehend the killers.
