My names are Lily Tanui Moimett, I am 19 years of age. I am a young environmental activist following the footsteps of the late Wangari Maathai. My love for environmental conservation started when I was about 6 years old.
My love for trees is really strong as I take them as my fellow human. So when I see someone cutting down a tree I feel like that person should be in the same situation as the tree; that pain it feels as it is fell.
During my school holidays, I would take time away from my studies to transform the environment. I could join women and sensitize them on the best methods of tree planting.
Being the firstborn in a family of five I developed an interest in environmental conservation at a very tender age. I would accompany, my grandfather (herbalist) to the forest to search for medicinal herbs.
My mentor is Wangari Maathai as she had passion and determination in environmental conservation.
My efforts paid off when I was invited to join the Yale Univesity from July 27,2016 under the Young global scholars in the sustainable energy and environment solutions program.
I believe that conservation of the environment will create a huge impact in the future. If you believe in my dream join me in making the world a better place by conserving the environment.
