12-hour curfew in war-prone Narok South; Government Declares

George Natembeya, the Narok county commissioner has imposed a 12-hour curfew at clash prone areas in Narok south following the eruption of ethnic violence that has so far left one dead,15 injured and 25 houses torched.

George Natembeya who was addressing journalists at his office said that the 6pm to 6am curfew will include a ban on gatherings.

“We are going to restrict movements in the area to ensure that planning of violence will not happen,” said Natembeya.

Those attacked during the violence includes a Kenya Forest Service Officer based at Kass FM who had gone to buy a cigarette at a local shopping center in the area.

The Kenya Forest Officer was attacked using a machete on his neck and was rushed to Narok Referral hospital where is recovering.
