Being and Breathing – Life Motivation

Breathe

Breathe

One warm evening many years ago…

After spending nearly every waking minute with Angel for eight straight days, I knew that I had to tell her just one thing.  So late at night, just before she fell asleep, I whispered it in her ear.  She smiled – the kind of smile that makes me smile back –and she said, “When I’m seventy-five and I think about my life and what it was like to be young, I hope that I can remember this very moment.”

A few seconds later she closed her eyes and fell asleep.  The room was peaceful – almost silent.  All I could hear was the soft purr of her breathing.  I stayed awake thinking about the time we’d spent together and all the choices in our lives that made this moment possible.  And at some point, I realized that it didn’t matter what we’d done or where we’d gone.  Nor did the future hold any significance.

All that mattered was the serenity of the moment.

Just being with her and breathing with her.

The moral:  We must not allow the clock, the calendar, and external pressures to rule our lives and blind us to the fact that each individual moment of our lives is a beautiful mystery and a miracle – especially those moments we spend in the presence of a loved one.

All the Difference in The World – Life Motivation

All the Difference in The World

Every Sunday morning I take a light jog around a park near my home.  There’s a lake located in one corner of the park.  Each time I jog by this lake, I see the same elderly woman sitting at the water’s edge with a small metal cage sitting beside her.

This past Sunday my curiosity got the best of me, so I stopped jogging and walked over to her.  As I got closer, I realized that the metal cage was, in fact, a small trap.  There were three turtles, unharmed, slowly walking around the base of the trap.  She had a fourth turtle in her lap that she was carefully scrubbing with a spongy brush.

“Hello,” I said.  “I see you here every Sunday morning.  If you don’t mind my nosiness, I’d love to know what you’re doing with these turtles.”

She smiled.  “I’m cleaning off their shells,” she replied.  “Anything on a turtle’s shell, like algae or scum, reduces the turtle’s ability to absorb heat and impedes its ability to swim.  It can also corrode and weaken the shell over time.”

“Wow!  That’s really nice of you!” I exclaimed.

She went on: “I spend a couple of hours each Sunday morning, relaxing by this lake and helping these little guys out.  It’s my own strange way of making a difference.”

“But don’t most freshwater turtles live their whole lives with algae and scum hanging from their shells?” I asked.

“Yep, sadly, they do,” she replied.

I scratched my head.  “Well then, don’t you think your time could be better spent?  I mean, I think your efforts are kind and all, but there are freshwater turtles living in lakes all around the world.  And 99% of these turtles don’t have kind people like you to help them clean off their shells.  So, no offense… but how exactly are your localized efforts here truly making a difference?”

The woman giggled aloud.  She then looked down at the turtle in her lap, scrubbed off the last piece of algae from its shell, and said, “Sweetie, if this little guy could talk, he’d tell you I just made all the difference in the world.”

The moral:  You can change the world – maybe not all at once, but one person, one animal, and one good deed at a time.  Wake up every morning and pretend like what you do makes a difference.  It does.

Walk The Road – Life Motivation

I had the strangest dream last night. I was walking down a dirt road with snowy woods on either side of me. I was all alone. The road seemed to go on forever. I couldn’t see another person anywhere. All at once, however, I saw someone walking towards me in the distance. As this person got closer and closer I realized that it was me. It was me from many years ago, fresh-faced and young. I could see in his mind all the dreams and hopes that he had too. They had, after all, once been my own.

I was overjoyed. I had so many things I wanted to say to this younger me. I wanted to spare him the trials I had gone through, the pain I had suffered, and the mistakes I had made. I wanted to share with him all that I had learned over the long years of my life. I wanted to show him how his life would turn out so much different than what he had thought and hoped it would, but that it would be so much better and happier than the path he was now on. I wanted him not to waste so many years on the things his ego thought were so vital but instead to realize that love was the most important thing in this life.

I opened my mouth to say all of these things but couldn’t. I realized at that moment that even if I told him he wouldn’t believe me. He would have to walk the road I had walked, learn the things I had learned, and go through all I had gone through. He would have to find God in his own way and in his own time. I let him walk on by and watched as he disappeared in the distance. Then I turned to continue on my own way and woke up.

In this life, there are no shortcuts. We all have to walk the road. We all have to travel through sorrow as well as joy. We all have to learn to love. We all have to grow into who we were meant to be. It takes our whole lives. Yet, it is a journey worth making.

A True Inspiration! – Life Motivation

Inspiration

Do you believe the happiness of your life has anything to do with the quality of your thoughts? Let me tell you about my friend Matt if you don’t.

Several months ago I was asked to be FB friends with a guy named Matt. I was told that Matt had been in a terrible motorcycle accident in June of 2017.

As a result of that accident, Matt’s wife died. If that wasn’t horrific enough Matt broke 42 bones and was burned over 33% of his body. Matt spent 2 months in the Cleveland Metro burn unit, 1 month in rehab and another 9 months in therapy. At first, they were not sure that Matt would even live. Then he received the not so encouraging report it was doubtful he would ever walk again.

If there was anyone who could have fallen into a pit of self-pity you would believe it could be Matt. But that is not what Matt chose to do.

Matt worked hard in rehab and therapy. He not only lived, but he can also walk! Believe it or not, Matt went back to work this past April! How about that!

Matt put the following quote on FB. When I read the quote tears filled my eyes knowing all Matt had been through. Here’s the quote:

“Train your mind to see the good in everything. Positivity is a choice. The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.”

Matt has a new goal now to write a book and share his story to help others. Most people don’t like to do public speaking but Matt wants to do that too.

Does Matt believe that the happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thought? Yes, he does!

My friend Matt is a true inspiration!

Value of Life

I am returning to my home and stuck in the traffic near the Delhi border. The driver of the ambulance was trying to get out of traffic jams and the patient was fighting with his illness. Some were giving space to the ambulance to get out of traffic but some people were not giving it. This shows that even today there are good people in the world and there is also a selfish person as well. It is often heard in the news that due to traffic jams, an ambulance could not find the way and the patient died in the on its way.

If we all get the same thinking then how many people can survive. It seems impossible because many of us only live for our self.

Is it just 15 minutes every day we can think of others better than others? Only for 15 minutes.

What will be the difference, by thinking of someone good, by helping someone, feeding a hungry, feeding birds, we will get better in return? Trust me, I have tried and it works wonder honestly.

Sometimes I have seen on roads that some people hit the dog. Why? Do they don’t have feelings, their kids waiting behind them? Don’t they feel pain? They do but it is a pity that he can not explain his pain and nobody can understand his pain.

Each life is important that is why it is on the earth whether it would be human being, animal, mammals etc. I believe we should respect and love each and every one.

Having a Best Friend – Life Motivation

Best Friend

Best Friend

Two friends were walking through the desert. At one stage in their journey, they had an argument and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything he wrote in the sand, “Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to have a wash. The one who had been slapped got stuck in a mire and started drowning, but his friend saved him. After he had recovered from his shock, he wrote on a stone, “Today my best friend saved my life.”

The friend who slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write in stone, why?”

The other friend replied, “When someone hurts us we should write it down in the sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”

Moral of the story: Don’t value the things you have in your life. Value those who you have in your life.
