As the global economy continues to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, commercial aeroplane deliveries from major manufacturers Boeing and Airbus have finally started to take off. According to recent data and forecasts by market analysts, Boeing delivered a total of 78 commercial aeroplanes in June 2022, an increase from 56 in the same period a year ago. Airbus also reported a 34% year-over-year rise in deliveries, handing over 57 commercial aircraft in June 2022.
The upswing is largely attributed to a post-pandemic rebound in air travel and the easing of supply chain constraints, as per analysts at Jefferies. As the commercial aeroplane market continues to recover, industry forecasters anticipate that demand for sustainable aviation will contribute to its growth, alongside increasing airline capacity.
Boeing's own prediction, included in its latest industry forecast, anticipates a gradual increase in the global commercial aeroplane market, driven by growing demand and the introduction of more efficient and sustainable aircraft designs. As this sector continues to recover and evolve, the delivery numbers from Boeing and Airbus are expected to reflect a gradual, yet sustained, growth trend in the coming years.
